Aluminium has a thermal expansion coefficient of twenty-three microstrains per degree Celsius. Long runs of metal fascia will expand and contract with seasonal temperature changes. We design our fascia joints with discrete expansion gaps of three millimetres to five millimetres. We use internal splice plates to maintain alignment while allowing free movement. The metal fascia boards are secured onto the timber sub-structure using matching powder-coated stainless steel fixings or mounted onto secret-fix brackets. Sliding splice joints are left between lengths to accommodate expansion.
What sizing options are available, like a 10 inch fascia?
We fold all roofline boards to order. Common commercial sizing includes a 10 inch aluminum fascia (250mm reveal coverage), and we can fold any bespoke height from 100mm up to 600mm to wrap deep structural eaves.
